go to your local job centre and they can calculate what your on now and what you would be on if you worked and then you would know if you would be better off.

Don’t think that should matter at all. He is the one getting benefits. Should have nothing to do with you.
Do you mean he’s on Social Security Disability?
If he is and is able to work, he can work and make up to a certain amount of money per year without effecting his benefits.

any extra income will inevitably affect any benefits you are on,give the benefits office a ring, and discreetly ask for information on it.

Depends on what you earn.Firstly they knock your money off what he claims for you but what you earn each week,he sends
your wage slip, each and every week,to the DHS were he is making the claim from. You also put down what you pay out in
bus or petrol,to get to work secondly if yo have to buy protective clothes, scissors and so on.Your husband can
transfer his tax code over to you, so as you do not pay to much tax.Any money that you earn is taken of ,if it you goe`s above a stipulated amount that your husband claims for you
and the DHS sends your husband a giro each week for your adjusted money he claims for you, important that the wage note is sent in,an envelope, post free to send it in can be obtained from post office. What you earn dose not affect
his money or what he claims for children.
Hope this helps ? edit if there is any thing i missed.
Yes go to work, you will be better off.

As far as I know there are actually two types of incapacity benefit, contribution-based and income-based and it depends partly which one your husband is on.
If he has qualified for the benefit from his own national insurance contributions his amount as such isn’t means tested, so wouldn’t be affected by your earnings, but if he’s claiming an add-on for you and the children that amount would. If he’s on income-based incapacity benefit because he didn’t have the qualifying national insurance contributions his amount could be affected by your earnings, if they are high enough.
But you need to get this checked out properly. The Jobcentre may be able to do a ‘better-off’ calculation for you,
but, a word of warning, Jobcentre staff are not able to be experts in all the complexities of the benefits system, so it is a good idea to back up anything they say, or don’t know, by making your own enquiries as well, for example, if there’s a Citizens’ Advice Bureau or Welfare Rights organisation in your area, or reading up on the regulations yourselves in the CPAG (Child Poverty Action Group) handbook which your local reference library should have, you can also buy one direct from the CPAG at a reduced rate if you’re claimants. (These are the handbooks that the people in the CAB and welfare rights organisations use themselves by the way!)
Good luck anyway.
